what is a machine health monitoring specialist?

our awesome client, a leading mining and technology company, is looking for a machine health monitoring specialist to be part of their remote monitoring and maintenance support team.

as a machine health monitoring specialist, you will serve as the early warning system for a fleet of heavy mining equipment. you will monitor machine performance, analyze equipment health data, identify potential failures, and provide predictive maintenance insights to reduce downtime and improve operational efficiency.

what will be your main responsibilities?

• monitor real-time equipment data from machine health sensors, iot devices, and diagnostic systems to identify performance issues, abnormalities, and maintenance requirements.

• analyze machine trends and diagnostic information to detect mechanical faults, component wear, and operational inefficiencies using vibration analysis, temperature monitoring, fuel usage data, and other indicators.

• develop and improve predictive maintenance strategies by identifying potential failures before they occur and supporting maintenance planning based on equipment health insights.

• manage equipment health dashboards, track operational alerts, and maintain accurate records of machine status, diagnostics, and corrective actions.

• prepare regular reports on equipment health, performance trends, maintenance activities, and key performance indicators.

• collaborate with on-site maintenance teams, technicians, and operators by providing remote troubleshooting support and recommendations for equipment issues.

• ensure monitoring systems, sensors, and software platforms remain operational and effectively integrated with equipment.

• work with it and technical teams to support system improvements, technology upgrades, and enhanced monitoring capabilities.

• promote compliance with health, safety, environmental, and operational standards through effective monitoring and continuous improvement initiatives.

what are we looking for?

• bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering field.

• hands-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting mobile heavy equipment such as underground trucks, loaders, drills, or similar mining machinery.

• strong understanding of mechanical systems, equipment diagnostics, and maintenance practices.

• experience with remote monitoring systems, iot technology, predictive analytics, or equipment health platforms is highly preferred.

• ability to analyze equipment data, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions.

• knowledge of vibration analysis, temperature monitoring, fuel monitoring, and other condition monitoring techniques.

• strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively with remote and on-site teams.

• excellent reporting, documentation, and communication skills.

• understanding of health, safety, and compliance requirements within industrial or mining environments.

• ability to interpret technical data and translate findings into actionable maintenance recommendations.
