The Vessel Accountant is responsible for managing financial records, reports, and transactions for assigned vessels. This role ensures accurate accounting, compliance with company policies, and proper coordination with internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Record and monitor daily financial transactions, including accruals
- Prepare monthly financial reports and analyze budget vs. actual expenses
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records
- Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts
- Resolve discrepancies and outstanding balances
- Review and manage purchase orders (PO) and supplier transactions
- Follow up on debit collections and payments
- Prepare monthly fund requests for vessel operations
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies
- Support process improvement and financial controls
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Experience in accounting, finance, or maritime/shipping industry (preferred)
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Proficient in MS Excel and accounting systems
