Role Overview
The Finance Officer is responsible for managing Moongig’s day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate financial records, timely reporting, and compliance with regulatory requirements. This role supports leadership by providing financial insights that guide operational and strategic decision-making in a fast-paced healthcare startup environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Operations & Reporting
- Own daily accounting operations: AP/AR, invoicing, collections, bill payments, and expense reimbursements
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries, month-end close, and account reconciliations (bank, credit card, payroll)
- Generate regular financial reports such as profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow summaries
- Prepare monthly, YTD, and full-year (FY) financial reports to support management and planning needs
- Monitor cash flow and support cash management planning
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in budget preparation, monitoring, and variance analysis
- Track departmental expenses against approved budgets and flag discrepancies
- Support financial forecasting and cost analysis for new initiatives or projects
Payroll & Disbursements
- Process payroll and professional fee payments accurately and on time
- Coordinate with HR and/or external payroll providers to validate payroll reports
- Ensure proper documentation and approvals for disbursements
- Manage bill payments, vendor disbursements, and expense reimbursements
Compliance & Controls
- Ensure compliance with Philippine statutory requirements (BIR, SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, etc.)
- Support tax filings, audits, and coordination with external accountants or auditors
- Maintain internal controls and proper documentation to support financial integrity
- Assist in setting up and improving basic finance policies and procedures as the company scales
Stakeholder Support
- Provide financial data and insights to management to support operational and strategic decisions
- Prepare simple financial dashboards and summaries (e.g., revenue, expenses, burn rate, runway)
- Coordinate with internal teams (Operations, People Ops, Business Development, Operations) on financial matters
- Partner with operations on cost tracking, procurement support, and basic unit economics
- Assist in improving financial processes, systems, and workflows as the company scales
Minimum Qualifications
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- At least 1–3 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance (startup or SME experience is a plus)
- Working knowledge of Philippine accounting standards and statutory compliance
- Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets; experience with accounting software is an advantage
- Knowledge in BIR filing reportorial requirements and usage of eBIRForms, validation, eFPSExperience with QuickBooks Online is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and data accuracy
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism
- Comfortable working in a fast-growing, evolving startup environment
- Proactive, dependable, and able to work with minimal supervision
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
