Scientific & Technical Designer | AI Graphic Designer  

We are seeking an experienced Scentific and Technical Designer / AI Graphic Designer to join our Creative Department, specializing in the creation of medical, scientific, and technical graphics for books and publications. This role is ideal for designers with a strong professional background who can translate complex information into clear, accurate, and publication-ready visuals.

Job Purpose

The AI Graphic Designer is responsible for producing high-quality visual graphics, figures, and illustrations for patent applications, scientific publications, medical materials, and technical documentation.

The role requires strong expertise in AI-assisted image generation, prompting techniques, and advanced graphic design tools to efficiently create accurate and publication-ready visuals.

The designer will transform complex written content into clear, precise, and visually structured diagrams, patent figures, medical illustrations, and technical graphics while ensuring compliance with patent office standards, scientific accuracy, and brand guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

Technical, Medical & Scientific Illustration

Create patent figures, technical diagrams, device schematics, exploded views, and process flows based on invention disclosures and written descriptions. Develop medical illustrations, biological diagrams, and scientific visuals for research publications and technical documentation, translating complex concepts into clear and structured visual graphics.

AI-Assisted Graphic Design & Production

Utilize AI tools such as Midjourney, ChatGPT, Claude, and other emerging platforms to generate visual concepts and base imagery. Apply advanced prompting techniques and refine AI-generated visuals using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and other design tools, converting them into clean vector graphics, patent-compliant line art, infographics, and technical diagrams for print and digital publications while maintaining branding and publication standards.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

Work closely with writers, editors, and subject matter experts to ensure the accuracy and clarity of illustrations. Communicate effectively regarding project requirements, revisions, and deadlines while continuously exploring new AI tools and workflow improvements to enhance productivity, visual quality, and innovation.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, or a related field

Experience

• Minimum of 1–2 years of professional graphic design experience, preferably in technical, scientific, or medical illustration
• Experience creating technical diagrams, scientific figures, schematics, or publication-ready graphics
• Experience using AI tools for research, visualization support, and workflow enhancement, including AI prompting and utilization (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Midjourney, or similar tools)
• Experience collaborating with content creators, writers, or subject matter experts to translate complex information into clear visual representations

Technical Skills

• Adobe Photoshop – Advanced
• Adobe Illustrator – Advanced
• Adobe InDesign – Intermediate
• Strong photo retouching skills and graphic output preparation for print and web
• Working knowledge of AI-assisted design and prompting tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Midjourney, Claude)

Strong Advantage (Premium Qualification)

• Experience with complex AI prompting techniques and advanced utilization of AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Midjourney, or similar platforms) to support research, visualization, and workflow efficiency
• Experience in medical, scientific, or laboratory environments, such as healthcare institutions, research facilities, pharmaceutical or biotech companies, or academic settings
• Solid understanding of medical terminology, scientific concepts, laboratory workflows, and technical documentation
• Proven ability to translate complex medical and scientific data into precise, anatomically and technically accurate illustrations
• Prior experience creating medical illustrations, scientific figures, laboratory schematics, or patent-related visuals is highly preferred
