Job Description

The Database Administrator (DBA) is the custodian of the organization's data, ensuring the performance, security, and integrity of all application databases across both cloud and on-premises servers. This role is responsible for the overall health and availability of the hybrid database infrastructure, providing essential expertise in managing, maintaining, and optimizing the core data assets that power the business.

Data Integrity & Security

  • Ensures all databases are secure, compliant with established policies, and maintain the highest level of data integrity across all environments. Performance is measured by audit success rates and zero instances of data corruption.
  • Manages user access and permissions and implements database security policies and procedures.

System Uptime & Availability

  • Manages, monitors, and optimizes database servers (both on-premises and cloud-hosted) to ensure continuous uptime and high availability for all applications. Performance is measured by database uptime metrics and service level agreements (SLAs).

Performance Tuning & Optimization

  • Proactively analyzes and tunes complex queries, schema design, and server configurations to ensure fast and efficient data retrieval. Performance is measured by query execution time and application speed.
  • Optimizes database queries, tunes performance, and manages data partitioning for efficiency.

Disaster Recovery & Backup Management

  • Designs, implements, and routinely tests robust backup and recovery procedures for data residing in both on-premises and cloud systems to ensure rapid data restoration capabilities.
  • Performs database backup, recovery, and replication procedures, ensuring data resilience and continuity.

Database Management

  • Manages, monitors, and maintains database servers across cloud and on-premises infrastructures to ensure performance, reliability, and security.

Troubleshooting

  • Collaborates with the Development Team and DevOps Engineer to diagnose and resolve application-level data issues and environmental problems.

Capacity Planning

  • Monitors database growth and plans for hardware and software upgrades to meet future application demands.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • At least 3+ years of experience as a dedicated Database Administrator (DBA) supporting mission-critical production environments.
  • Proven experience in managing database security, implementing backup/recovery strategies, and performing performance tuning.
  • Mandatory experience managing and supporting databases in a hybrid environment (on-premises and public cloud).
  • Expert knowledge of SQL, stored procedures, and database architecture principles.
  • Strong understanding of disaster recovery and high availability solutions (e.g., replication, clustering).
  • Relevant vendor certification (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator) is preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency with cloud database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL) and their connectivity/security.
  • Familiarity with DevOps concepts (CI/CD) and how database changes are managed in an agile pipeline.
  • Proactive ownership of the data environment's health and security.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks based on operational impact and risk assessment.

Working Conditions:

  • Onsite in Paranaque City
  • Full-time permanent position, Monday to Saturday, 8-hour shift.
  • On-call availability to handle critical, P1 system incidents and emergency maintenance/recovery procedures.
