The Merchant Success Executive is a hybrid role combining merchant onboarding, account management, and sales support. As BuyBuddy operates with a lean team, this role supports founder-led merchant acquisition while owning the after-sales experience, merchant activation, and relationship management.
Over time, the Merchant Success Executive will also take a more active role in merchant presentations, outreach, and direct acquisition, with performance-based commissions introduced once the role expands.
The successful candidate receives a finely curated role that connects marketing, customer services, and sales expertise, which allows a broader range of future opportunities. Aimed at developing and preparing new talent as when they take on bigger roles as their careers progress.
Key Responsibilities
1. Merchant Onboarding & Success (Primary Focus)
- Act as the main point of contact for onboarded merchants
- Guide merchants through:
- App listing setup
- Promo mechanics (Buy 1 Get 1 structure)
- Redemption flow and dashboard use
- Ensure merchants are activated and ready for redemptions
- Proactively manage relationships to reduce churn
- Collaborate with marketing division to achieve merchant goals and targets through campaigns and promotions
- Escalate issues to internal teams when needed
2. Sales Support & Merchant Acquisition (Shared Responsibility)
- Support group merchant presentations and info sessions led by founders
- Assist in merchant outreach, follow-ups, and scheduling
- Gradually conduct merchant presentations independently or with founders
- Qualify potential merchants for platform fit
- Maintain accurate records of invited, signed, and active merchants
3. Relationship Management & Growth
- Build and maintain strong merchant relationships
- Gather feedback to improve platform and merchant experience
- Identify opportunities for merchant growth and better promo performance
- Represent BuyBuddy professionally during meetings and site visits
Minimum Qualifications
Qualifications & Skills
- 1–3 years experience in sales, account management, partnerships, hospitality, or startups
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Comfortable engaging with restaurant owners and decision-makers
- Organized, proactive, and relationship-driven
- Willing to work in a fast-paced, startup environment
- Experience in F&B, tech platforms, or marketplaces is an advantage
