Summary of Work Activities and Responsibilities:
The Assistant Director for University Advancement and Engagement supports the Director of the Office of University Development and Alumni Affairs in providing strategic, operational, and governance leadership for the University’s stakeholder engagement and resource mobilization programs.
The role focuses on setting direction, integrating efforts across development, alumni engagement and formation, and major fund raising campaigns, ensuring that all University advancement initiatives are aligned with the OUDAA Strategic Plan, the University’s mission and Jesuit identity, and institutional priorities.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
I. Advancement Strategy and Integration
- Supports the Director in the formulation, review, and translation of OUDAA strategies, plans, policies, and annual operational plans into integrated advancement directions across University development, alumni engagement and formation, and campaigns and marketing, ensuring alignment with the University’s mission, Jesuit values, and institutional priorities.
- Supports the Director in shaping and translating the strategic direction for the University’s advancement programs, ensuring coherence and alignment across development, alumni engagement and formation, and stewardship initiatives.
II. Advancement Governance and Resource Mobilization
- Exercises governance oversight over the University’s Major Gifts solicitation process, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities, adherence to approved protocols, proper coordination across relevant units.
III. Stakeholder Engagement and Donor Development
- Provides strategic oversight on the alignment of marketing, public relations, and communication strategies with the University’s overall advancement and stakeholder engagement objectives, in close coordination with the Campaign and Marketing Head and the University Marketing and Communications Office.
- Ensures alignment of stakeholder engagement and donor development approaches with institutional priorities, guiding how relationships and opportunities are strategically positioned across OUDAA and relevant University units.
IV. Donation Reporting and Decision Support
- Ensures the delivery of consolidated impact and stewardship reports on donations and advancement initiatives for University leadership, the Board of Trustees, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Provides strategic direction on reporting frameworks, performance indicators, and accountability mechanisms, in coordination with relevant units and aligned with OUDAA and University-level directions, to strengthen transparency and decision support.
V. Alumni Engagement and Formation
- Guides the strategic direction and alignment of alumni engagement and formation, ensuring that programs foster lifelong relationships, deepen alumni identity and mission alignment, and sustain meaningful connections between alumni and the University.
VI. Group Management and Development
- Sets the direction and develops Group-level metrics, including performance standards and targets, in coordination with the Director and the Operations and Advancement Services Group, ensuring alignment with strategic and operational priorities.
- Represents OUDAA in meetings, dialogues, and engagements with key stakeholders, as delegated by the Director.
VII. Performs other work-related tasks as may be required by the immediate supervisor and authorized representative/s.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree with advanced studies or a Graduate Degree in Development, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or related fields.
- At least eight (8) years of progressive experience in stakeholder engagement and resource mobilization, preferably in academic or nonprofit institutions.
- At least five (5) years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role, including oversight of managers or functional leads.
- Experience in a higher education setting is an advantage.
