The Assistant Director for University Advancement and Engagement supports the Director of the Office of University Development and Alumni Affairs (OUDAA) by providing strategic, operational, and governance leadership for the University’s stakeholder engagement and resource mobilization programs.
Advancement Strategy and Integration
- Supports the Director in the formulation, review, and translation of OUDAA strategies, policies, and annual operational plans into integrated advancement directions across university development, alumni formation, and campaigns
- Shaps and translates strategic directions to ensure absolute coherence across development, alumni engagement, and stewardship initiatives.
- Ensures the integration and alignment of alumni engagement, donor development, and stewardship strategies across the Group, OUDAA, and relevant University units to strengthen the advancement ecosystem.
- Reviews and integrates program plans, performance reports, and proposals from Section Heads to provide strategic insights. Analyzes performance metrics to guide adjustments and support decision-making.
Advancement Governance and Resource Mobilization
- Exercises governance oversight over the University’s Major Gifts solicitation process
- Provides strategic oversight over resource mobilization programs (including major gifts, endowments, naming opportunities, family giving, and planned giving campaigns) per institutional plans.
Stakeholder Engagement and Donor Development
- Oversees the alignment of marketing, PR, and communication strategies with advancement objectives, coordinating closely with the Campaign and Marketing Head and the University Marketing and Communications Office (UMCO).
- Guides donor prospecting, portfolio development, and engagement strategies, positioning donor interests in relation to University initiatives and funding opportunities.
- Cultivates and sustains institutional-level relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to strengthen partnerships and secure long-term institutional support.
Donation Reporting and Decision Support
- Ensures the delivery of consolidated impact and stewardship reports on donations and advancement initiatives for University leadership, the Board of Trustees, and stakeholders.
- Provides strategic direction on reporting frameworks, performance indicators, and accountability mechanisms to strengthen transparency and decision support.
- Synthesizes insights from program metrics across sections to inform strategic improvements. Develops executive-level briefing materials and strategy papers to support decision-making for the Director and President.
Alumni Engagement and Formation
- Guides the strategic direction of alumni engagement and formation
- Aligns alumni engagement and formation with institutional priorities and broader stakeholder engagement directions in coordination with relevant units.
- Strengthens institutional partnerships with alumni associations and key alumni leaders to support a shared mission and long-term institutional support.
Group Management and Development
- Establishes Group-level metrics, performance standards, and targets in coordination with the Director. Monitors goal achievement and plans the allocation of the Group’s budget and resources in line with university guidelines.
- Sets performance standards for direct reports, manages work assignments, conducts reviews, and provides coaching. Maintains HR documentation and escalates critical concerns.
- Oversees recruitment, onboarding, and training while fostering a collaborative team culture. Represents OUDAA with key stakeholders and serves as Officer-in-Charge in the Director's absence.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
● Bachelor’s Degree with advanced studies or a Graduate Degree in Development,
Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or related fields.
● At least eight (8) years of progressive experience in stakeholder engagement
and resource mobilization, preferably in academic or nonprofit institutions.
● At least five (5) years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role, including
oversight of managers or functional leads.
● Experience in a higher education setting is an advantage.
