About this Position

We’re looking for a Junior Android Engineer to support the development of internal Android applications used by our operations teams. In this role, you’ll focus on building features, fixing bugs, and implementing UI using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose. You’ll contribute to clean, maintainable codebases, learn modern Android practices, and grow your technical skills under the guidance of senior engineers at Astro.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Android features for internal operational applications based on product and design requirements.
• Perform bug fixing and minor enhancements with guidance from senior engineers.
• Write clean, maintainable Kotlin code following established Android best practices.
• Build user interfaces using Jetpack Compose and implement designs from Figma.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Backend, and QA teams during feature development.
• Write basic Unit Tests and UI Tests for assigned tasks when required.
• Participate in code reviews, apply feedback, and continuously improve code quality.
• Support application stability and performance, including basic crash monitoring and documentation.

• Minimum 1 year of experience in Android application development.
• Proficient in Kotlin as the primary programming language.
• Hands-on experience with Jetpack Compose for UI development.
• Familiarity with modern Android architecture and design patterns (e.g., MVVM, Clean Architecture).
• Experience writing Unit Tests and UI Tests.
• Experience working on internal or operational mobile applications.
• Familiar with Git-based development workflows and basic CI/CD exposure.
• Willingness to learn, collaborate, and grow with guidance from senior engineers.
