Job Description

Why This Role Matters

This position plays a critical role in ensuring that life-changing energy reaches remote communities. You will directly shape the performance, safety, and reliability of multiple microgrids serving thousands of people. You’ll work with field teams, engineers, and the General Manager to maintain resilient, stable, and efficient power systems across multiple islands.

ou will support both construction (first 6–9 months) and operations & maintenance of ARC’s hybrid microgrid portfolio. The role requires strong technical grounding, attention to detail, hands-on field experience, and the ability to respond quickly to site needs and emergencies.

You must be willing to provide on-call support and return to site promptly when required.

1. Microgrid Powerplant Construction Phase (First 6–9 Months)

  • Construction Oversight: Manage daily OHL and electrical construction activities, ensuring compliance with design standards, safety protocols, environmental regulations, and project timelines. Monitor contractor performance and adherence to contractual requirements.
  • Quality & Compliance: Conduct joint site inspections, verify material quality and quantities, and confirm alignment with project specifications.
  • Issue Resolution: Identify and address construction or design issues, implement corrective actions, and document any scope changes.
  • Safety & Environmental Enforcement: Implement safety protocols and conduct safety/environmental audits as required by OHSA, DENR, and LGU standards.
  • Team Coordination: Ensure clear communication across teams to achieve construction targets and maintain alignment on objectives.
  • Reporting: Provide accurate, timely updates on progress, risks, deviations, and site conditions. Maintain thorough documentation of inspections and project changes.

2. Operations & Maintenance (O&M)

  • Centralized Grid Operations: Monitor and control multiple microgrids for stable, efficient T&D operations. Track grid KPIs (e.g., energy output, system losses, fault events, SAIDI, SAIFI, and OHL risk factors) and drive improvements in performance and reliability.
  • Maintenance Planning: Develop and manage preventive and corrective maintenance programs for overhead lines, transformers, sectionalizers, metering systems, and other T&D assets. Coordinate field actions such as vegetation clearing, hardware replacement, and hotspot correction.
  • Inventory & Resource Management: Oversee inventory of tools, equipment, and spare parts. Support forecasting, procurement requests, and allocation of manpower, mobility tools, and emergency supplies.
  • On-Site & Emergency Response: Work closely with generation engineers and plant officers during critical maintenance or grid disturbances. Implement switching, load-shedding, and restoration strategies. Address customer issues (e.g., service wire cuts, loose connections) promptly.
  • Compliance & Regulatory Reporting: Ensure adherence to DENR, DOE, ERC, NPC, and LGU regulations. Prepare risk assessments, compliance reports, permits, and audit-ready documentation.
  • Data-Driven Decision-Making: Maintain centralized databases of maintenance logs, incidents, and performance data. Produce dashboards, conduct trend analysis, and recommend operational improvements.
