Job Description
- Reports closely to the News Director.
- Coordinates with the Desk Supervisor for all news gathered, articles, stories, deployment details that is for use as part of the respective newscast that they are handling.
- Produces news materials for the main newscasts and hourly news breaks
- Monitors, writes and updates factual and unbiased news stories during shift
- Verifies accuracy of questionable facts and obtains supplemental material and additional details from files, reference libraries, and interviews with knowledgeable sources
- Prepares and completes scripts to achieve time schedule
- Interfaces/coordinates with the Inquirer Central Desk Editors, Inquirer.net, Philippine Daily Inquirer, Bandera and Libre
- Reports to Desk Supervisor/News Director of any activities within his/her area of coverage
- Maybe assigned to go on-air for segments
- Maybe assigned to go on-air for newsbreaks
- Maybe assigned to handle on-air programs during special coverages
- Maybe asked to assist Philippine Daily Inquirer, Inquirer.net, Libre and Bandera in special coverage and other news related matters
- Performs other related tasks that may be assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- College graduate, preferably Mass Communication, Broadcast Journalism
- At least with 1 year experience as Producer/Writer
- Computer, writing, communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong editing and proofreading skills
- Attentive to detail, deadline-oriented
- Ability to work well alone or in a team
