Ateneo de Manila University (Ateneo) is one of the leading universities in the Philippines. More than 150 years in existence, Ateneo has grown into a major Jesuit institution. Officially it became a university in 1959. It offers over 100 academic degree programmes.

Ateneo offers Basic Education (Grade School, Junior High School, and Senior High School). In addition, Higher Education (College, Graduate, Continuing Education) is made up of nine schools (Education and Learning Design, Government, Graduate School of Business, Humanities, Management, Science and Engineering, and Social Sciences) located in 3 campuses in Quezon City, Makati City and Pasig City.

Summary of Work Activities and Responsibilities:

The Librarian III provides library services alongside offering user support. Additionally, the position provides support to the management of section operations.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

I. Library Services

<ul>
	<li>Performs tasks related to library technical services, including but not limited to:
	<ul>
		<li>Cataloging and classifying library materials</li>
		<li>Maintaining an accurate, up-to-date database of library holdings</li>
		<li>Physically processing items being added to and withdrawn from the collection</li>
	</ul>
	</li>
	<li>Performs archival work related to the long-term preservation and provision of</li>
	<li>access to special collections</li>
	<li>Prepares bibliographies and guides, as well as other instructional and research tools, to enhance access to materials</li>
</ul>

II. Library User Support

<ul>
	<li>Conducts comprehensive orientations for library users, both informally and formally at the start of the academic year for undergraduate and graduate students</li>
	<li>Provides ongoing assistance and services to individuals seeking help throughout the day, fostering a supportive and inclusive library environment</li>
	<li>Provides Reader’s Advisory Services by directing individuals to materials (print, non-print, electronic) likely relevant to their research interests, suggesting potential sources of information needed, and offering on-the-spot instruction for navigating challenging library resources</li>
	<li>Responds to reference queries in person, by phone, email, or other communication channels, and offer research assistance and information retrieval support</li>
</ul>

III. Section Management Support

<ul>
	<li>Assists in the supervision of the planning, implementation, and monitoring of programs and activities that support the functions and services of the section
	<ul>
		<li>Collaborates with other library sections, University offices, organizations, and associations to support library operations, information services, and information literacy initiatives</li>
		<li>Assists in the development and maintenance of the library section's operations manual, ensuring that policies and procedures are documented and updated as necessary</li>
	</ul>
	</li>
	<li>Maintains order within the library, preventing vandalism, theft, and other disruptions</li>
	<li>In the absence of the Section Head, oversees and manages the day-to-day operations of the section</li>
</ul>

IV. Performs other duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor, or any authorized representative.

Quezon City is a vast and teeming city with a steadily increasing income and occupation of one-third of Metro Manila’s total land area. It now serves as the Philippines’ government center with the legislature and other important government offices located in its area. It is bounded on the north by Caloocan City and San Jose del Monte City in Bulacan Province, on the east by San Mateo and Marikina, on the south by Pasig and Mandaluyong, San Juan and Manila, and on the west by Valenzuela, Caloocan, and Manila. Its northeastern and eastern boundaries are defined by the Novaliches Watershed and the Marikina River. With an area of 16,112.58 hectares (based on 1995 GIS graphical plot), it is the largest among the sixteen (16) cities and one (1) municipality in the region and is almost one-fourth the size of Metro Manila.

Quezon City Local Government

1. Responsible for test administration, interpretation, scoring and evaluation for purpose of classification of individual person seeking employment and diagnosis of patients who are psychiatric cases, drug dependents and other related diseases; keeps tracts of all pertinent records as well as caring and keeping confidentiality of records.

2. Work out existing problems with other personnel; handles cases of disturbed applicant/employee and patients and gives counselling session; refers patients with serious problems to proper authority and does some follow-up and studies on patients who are undergoing treatment.

3. Collects, organize and present educational, vocational, social and personal information of patients; study records for identification of differences among patients; responsible for every personality assesments of employees with problems and patients and recommends for individual adjustments.

4. Assists the Medical Specialists; acts as liason officer between the patients and hospital staff.

5. Attend all meetings and conferences of the department.

6. Participate in all in-service training programs as deemed necessary for the improvement of patient care and evaluation.

7. Conduct or assist in the conduction of research activities.

8. Supervises practicum students in psychology.
