Job Description

  • The Biomedical Equipment Technician II is responsible in performing duties and responsibilities in line with the Maintenance Management Program of Biomedical Engineering in a manner consistent with the standards of the Medical Center.
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes and works cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
  • Performs troubleshooting and corrective maintenance of all biomedical equipment (Life and Non-Life Support) and Medical Gas & Vacuum System (MGVS).
  • Performs inspection and planned/preventive maintenance of all biomedical equipment (Life and Non-Life Support) and MGVS on schedule and/or daily monitoring of biomedical at the OR Main, Delivery Room & MAB-OR.
  • Performs daily monitoring of MGVS and/or daily monitoring of biomedical equipment at the OR Main, Delivery Room & MAB-OR.
  • Performs acceptance testing of newly installed and repaired biomedical equipment & MGVS done by Accredited Service Provider (ASP) and/or Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).
  • Assists ASP’s and OEM’s performing maintenance services when needed.
  • Performs inspection of non-SLMC owned biomedical equipment prior to hospital use.
  • Documents / accomplishes service report or work order for all maintenance services performed.
  • Receive and respond to service calls/requests and other communication s related to Biomedical Engineering.
  • Performs emergency repairs of all biomedical equipment (Life and Non-Life Support) on STAT cases upon request of the respective unit.
  • Receives instructions and endorsement of all finished and unfinished maintenance services and other BME related transactions from previous shift.
  • To properly endorse to the incoming shift or reliever any pending / unfinished maintenance services and other BME related transactions from previous shift.
  • Provides satisfactory solutions concerning technical problems and makes the necessary recommendations to his superior.
  • Assists in the preparation of BME reports (e.g. Weekly, Monthly & Annual Report).
  • Prepares the necessary request documents and withdraws the approved materials needed for maintenance services at the Central Warehouse.
  • Preparation of purchase request for materials, parts and tools needed for troubleshooting, corrective & planned/preventive maintenance and other maintenance services for biomedical equipment and MGVS.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering (BSEcE) / Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) / Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) / Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering / Any technical course with years experience in Biomedical Engineering field.
  • Preferably with at least one (1) year work experience in maintenance of equipment
  • Strong analytical and planning skills;
  • Good communication and presentation skills;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills;
