Job Description

Canva is a truly global product, with millions of our international users designing every day in our non-English languages. Our localization team is responsible for helping realize Canva’s vision to make the platform accessible to all 3.3 billion internet users around the world.

About the team

The localization team is responsible for consulting, scoping, executing and testing product localization requirements across all Canva platforms (Web App, iOS, Android, marketing communications, font work, localized templates, etc.).

You’ll get exposure to the way content, product, and design work at Canva, and get in at the ground floor of a rapidly growing team.

What you'll do...

  • Act as a core member of Canva’s localization team, working with various product and engineering stakeholders to plan, execute and deliver localization projects of Canva’s suite of products
  • Manage end-to-end localization quality assurance assets and processes, including style guides, glossaries, test script creation, and localization testing
  • Work with our localization testing vendor to conduct regular test cycles, triage bugs and implement fixes
  • Track core quality metrics across our key locales and work with our localization vendors to identify problem areas and mitigate quality issues
  • Plan and execute regular font testing for our wide range of international fonts
  • Identify and implement potential improvements in localization quality assurance processes, from UI optimization to testing automation initiatives
  • Champion localization and be a voice for our non-English speaking community

Minimum Qualifications

You'll love this role if...

  • You have relevant experience in localization project management, either on the client or vendor side
  • You have experience in software localization QA processes, including test script creation, linguistic/UI/functional testing, bug triage, and testing automation
  • You’re comfortable with a range of QA tools, from test case management tools like HipTest, to issue tracking tools like JIRA
  • You’re familiar with translation or localization platforms (i.e. Smartling or similar CAT tools) and global translation agencies
  • You really like playing around with apps in other languages and finding ways to break them
  • You’re interested in other languages and won’t shy away from working with 50+ different languages on a regular basis
  • You have a strong technical ability, from basic collaboration tools like Google Docs, to the knowledge of advanced formulas and functions in spreadsheets. Bonus points if you can write basic scripts in programming languages like bash and Python!
  • You have outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • You have effective organizational skills and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders and other teams

Attitude: Comfortable with ambiguity, you enjoy dealing with uncertain situations and are able to find solutions even without perfect precedents or direction. However, you are also very detail-oriented and thrive in an environment in which you’re juggling many tasks/vendors simultaneously. You are passionate about technology and consumer-internet companies, ideally Canva or design software companies.
