Job Description

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for leading, planning, supervision and implementation of preventive and corrective maintenance of plant control and instrumentation equipment and devices for Mechanical and Electrical system and related auxiliaries to ensure safe, reliable and economical maintenance and operation of all generating unit and related auxiliaries.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises the implementation of major overhauling and preventive maintenance, calibration, monitoring and testing of plant equipment and instruments to ensure safe, reliable and economical operation of all equipment and instruments.
  • Supervises the overhaul, repair and troubleshooting of Control and Instrumentation of power supply systems, Pneumatic and electronic control instruments and meter/test equipment by:
  1. reviewing and evaluating fault diagnosis on all Control and Instrumentation systems and instruments and recommending alternative procedures and methods for efficient preventive maintenance of said systems
  2. supervising the implementation of corrective maintenance work orders (CMWO), preventive maintenance work orders (PMWO) and job orders
  • Ensures Control and Instrumentation maintenance plans and targets for the team are achieved safely, economically and within the environmental limits of the Facility.
  • Supervises the implementation of machinery diagnostics and troubleshooting of plant trouble.
  • Schedules and plans implementation of machinery diagnostics and troubleshooting of plant trouble.
  • Evaluates results of functional test of the following:
  1. Turbine Interlock and Instrument Protective System
  2. Final Process control element
  • Plans and implements the periodic calibration of plant instruments to minimize malfunctions and ensure reliability.
  • Coordinates with Facility Management Heads on all Control and Instrumentation maintenance aspects.
  • Coordinates with other functional group regarding:
  1. Startup and shut down of the unit.
  2. Schedules Maintenance (PMWO and CMWO) and overhauling activities
  • Assists maintenance manager in determining manpower requirement for the section.
  • Continuously upgrades skills and technical competencies of Control and Instrumentation team by providing training programs on instrumentation operation, preventive maintenance and new trends.
  • Optimizes the use of manpower by planning work schedule and leaves of subordinates.
  • Monitors the work performance of subordinates, prepares and submits performance appraisal reports to identify their strengths and weaknesses, and recommends training, as needed.
  • Recommends hiring, promotions, discipline, merit rating and other personnel action.
  • Trains, coaches and motivates subordinates to ensure effective and efficient performance of their duties and responsibilities.
  • Prepares administrative and technical reports relating to Control and Instrumentation activities.
  • Plans and recommends acquisition of spare parts, equipment and supplies, tools and testing instruments for major overhauling and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Prepares and recommends annual budget for the section for submission to maintenance manager.
  • Ensures compliance to good housekeeping guidelines.
  • Enforces safety rules and use of applicable safety equipment to prevent accidents and occupational illness within the Unit.
  • Ensures continuous compliance to environmental criteria to prevent adverse effects to Plant personnel and the environment.
  • Implements the Plant’s emergency response plan during an emergency to ensure the safety and security of personnel and plant operations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics Engineering
  • Registered Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics Engineer
  • At least 5 years experience in power plant maintenance, at least 2 years in Instrumentation and Control
  • At least 2 years supervisory experience
