Control Room Engineer | Toledo, Cebu City  

This position is responsible for the operation of the Boiler, Turbine-Generator, and related auxiliary equipment through the Distributed Control System (DCS) in accordance with company policies, standard operating procedures, established rules and regulation, and equipment specifications, to ensure safe, reliable, efficient generation of steam and power.

Responsibilities:

Equipment Operation, Monitoring and Control

• Operates the plant’s boilers, turbine-generator, and auxiliary equipment from the Control Room following standard operating procedures and specifications to ensure safe and reliable generation of specified steam and power.
• Monitors, records, and evaluates equipment operating
• conditions in the Control Room to detect deviations from standards (equipment operation, environmental, health and
• safety) and/or other operating problems, and executes necessary corrective measures. Promptly reports to the Shift
• Supervisor any problem that cannot be resolved by the incumbent for appropriate action.
• Ensures compliance to SOP during unit start-up, shutdown and emergency situations.
• Creates and updates SOP during unit start-up, shutdown and emergency situations.
• Creates and updates SOPs for emergency response procedure for Control Room and Boiler-Turbine Operations.
• Ensures proper turnover procedures before leaning the post or taking over the next shift to ensure a smooth turnover of responsibilities.

Equipment Inspection, Maintenance and Repair

• Conduct scheduled routine and periodic operational and statutory testing and prepare analysis report for abnormalities found.
• Coordinates with Maintenance department for the preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment to ensure optimum performance.
• Performs change-over of auxiliary equipment and accessories based on schedule.

Recording and Reporting

• Prepares and submits regular regular shift reports on status of Control Room operations for reference and use during shift turnover. control.
• Prepares daily Generation Load Reports and SO Loading Log
• Instruction Report for the midnight report to NGCP.
• Creates Work Request in Maximo based on observed operational, health, safety and environmental concerns.

Safety, Health, Environment, and Housekeeping

• Complies with occupational safety and health as well as environmental rules and regulations to prevent accidents, illness, and adverse effects on the environment.
• Complies with housekeeping policies within his/her area
• of responsibility during assigned shift to maintain standards of cleanliness and orderliness of plant equipment and premises.
• Acts as Communications Controller during Emergency
• Response Preparedness and takes charges of communication system.

• At least 3 years experience in boiler-turbine operation of a power plant operation, at least 1 year experience in the control room
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Registered Mechanical Engineer or Registered Electrical Engineer
• Must be open to being assigned in Toledo, Cebu City
• Strong analytical and planning skills;
• Good communication and presentation skills;
• Excellent problem-solving skills;
